Joabe Barbosa
Joabe Barbosa works with a range of individuals and comes with previous experiences working in private practice, community mental health care, and college counseling environments. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in clinical psychology at Roosevelt University.
Joabe provides individual therapy and psychological assessment services, working with people wherever they are in life. He strives to create a space where people feel seen and genuinely heard. He strongly believes that it’s not about “fixing,” but about walking alongside people as they navigate challenges, discover their strengths, and move towards living a purpose-driven life.
Joabe treats individuals through a person-centered lens, leaning on a style that involves being authentic, honest, and collaborative, as this is where people are challenged to thrive and grow. He has an appreciation for those who feel disconnected and believes everyone can benefit from meaningful human connection. In addition to clinical work, Joabe is a university level instructor in psychology curriculum.
Outside of work, Joabe likes travelling, exploring, and running. He has been to all 50 U.S. states and has run through every street in the city of Chicago.
